#Truth: Drugstore Foundation Shopping Isn't Impossible

The one beauty product I think feels borderline impossible to shop for at the drugstore is foundation. You can't break open that tab (without getting in trouble, anyway) to even see if the shade works for your skin tone. And because they are SO many choices, all the bottles can feel like they're blending together. So to put an end to the confusion and actually get my hands on the drugstore swatch that's best for me, I went to celebrity makeup artist Tamah Krinsky (who's worked with Kirsten Dunst, FYI) for her opinion on the best products for every possible desire.

The Best for Acne-Prone Skin

Worried about your pores getting clogged? That fear is legit, so I asked Tamah for her best foundation product recommendations.
"If you are acne prone, I think the best idea is to wear as little face makeup as possible, as no matter what you wear, it will be sitting on your skin all day, so go easy and use foundation as sparingly as possible," she explains. She says to try an oi-free formula like the Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Foundation ($12.99; target.com).
It's light in formula, comes in 14 shades, and is easy to work with even though it is oil free," she notes.

The Best Lightweight Product

OK, so while there are tons of featherlight foundation formulas, in this situation, Tamah goes for a BB cream like Burts Bees BB Cream ($14.99; target.com). "It offers light coverage and feels really good on the skin," she says. "It's moisturizing without being heavy and has a lovely healthy natural finish." Um, that sounds like all of my dreams come true.

The Best for Dry Skin

So again, this isn't exactly foundation, but it will give you the coverage you need without compromising on needed hydration. "For dry skin I love the Sonia Kashuk Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($13.69; target.com)," Tamah tells me. "It's creamy, hydrating, has great coverage and SPF 15 built in!" #LifeMade.

The Best for Full Coverage

Tamah says that Revlon ColorStay Foundation ($8.49; walmart.com) is what she uses to cover up tattoos or when she's shooting around H2O! She even says that it will stay on until you remove it, so no 2 pm touch-up sessions needed.

The Best for a Matte Finish

One of my personal favorite foundation finishes, I felt an obligation to ask Tamah about her top picks for drugstore matte products. She loves Maybelline Fit Me Matte Formula Foundation ($7.99; ulta.com) because it comes in wide range of shades and won't leave your skin chalky. Yes, please.
